Well, it worked when Netflix had everything. They refocused on original projects and many of them being successful and the company is still growing. Others are not doing well. Like Disney. Good chunk of its subscribers are Indians paying 1 dollar per month to watch cricket tournaments. And flooding their franchises instead of new original projects devalued their core IPs.
I guess some do but would probably be completely different take on the subject like Sono following Suicide Club by entirely different Noriko's Dinner Table.
Yeah, little free time and pretty demanding, especially when they will be taking care of baby and son that will be little older. As much as it must be stressful, I guess you replace free time with fullfillment. what to watch tonight...
Finished Genie, Make a Wish (2025). This was surprisingly amazing drama about a girl who was abandoned by her family as a child as she was born with psychopatic tendencies and was left to grow up with her grandma. As an adult, she travels to Dubai to confront her family and on her trip stumbles on a magic lamp housing a genie. Malicious genie instantly recognizes her as a reincarnation of the girl whose kindness caused him to be imprisoned for 1000 years. As per bet with God, he needs to corrupt her morals or face eternal damnation. Yet, it will be no easy feat.
The show is primarily a romantic comedy. The comedy is very silly but found myself often genuenly chuckling at the jokes. As a romance, it manages to pull of multiple emotionally touching moments. As a fantasy, it feels pretty stylized but also very cheesy. Not for everyone but I like the strangeness of it all.
The central core of this show is Ka-jong, played by Suzy, the loveliest woman. Her condition leaves her unable to feel most emotions and is often ostracized by others. Yet, despite all this, you can clearly see she cares in her own subtle ways about people and things, sometimes desperatly latching onto rules to stay in the line, and do what she believes is right. Her stern personality and occassional prones to violence are effectively used for comedic effects.
Another strong point is Kim Woo-bin role as Iblis, the malicious Saitan. Starting off the story as quite an edgelord, he tries to understand the current world after his imprisonment which leads to many funny situations (like demonstrating he understands the concept of police by calling them on himself). As he spends time with Ka-jong and others, he slowly starts to care (leading to hilarious lines akin to "There is something wrong happening with me. I don't even feel amuzed by misery of others"). And his edgy nature neatly contrasts with the over-the-top shinenigans he performs as he often really fears that woman. Great chemistry.
As the bond between them develops, maybe, just maybe the psychopath will finally feel something and in the same way, she may melt devil's cold heart. The mystery surrounding their previous interactions and corresponding flashback adding much more to it.
Overall, this show has a few problems but it will definitely take one of the top positions in my 2025 watched drama list.

But I am talking about subtitles which are mostly servicible when you don't speak English at all but not great when you do. Switching to English ones is better but some episodes still have wrong timings, characters speak in All Caps and important dialogue in different languages like Spanish is not typically translated at all.

Well, Czech subtitles actually have those Spanish parts translated so it comes of as very lazy they do not bother doing the same for the most prominent language in the world. Netflix translations are much better from my experience.

I watched Nara's show in September. Slower in the beginning with introducing characters and concepts, it developed into great show (top 3 this year). And Nara has grown some much in her acting skills.
I am watching Death Note for that right now but you know, I like my romances and feels.

I mostly discover new things and sometimes watch Youtube videos about things I have watched years ago, interesting to see other people's perspectives. Although, before Genie, Make a Wish, I rewatch the first season of House. Amazing.
I think it is in season 3, although the numbering here is different.
Not everything but a few. First was My Mister, where she was more of a side character comedy relief. Then was Itaewon Class, but her character made few strange decisions and ended up being overshadows by Kim Dami. Afterwards, it was Bulgasal, which is amazing fantasy show and introduced me to Gong. By The Midnight Studio was truly shown how much she has grown as a actress.
It is worth it. Still slowly going through Billy Bat.
I would say so. Not much client stuff going on, but you get fun episode concepts like Michael's job suddenly turning into assault on airport which he needs to dismantle from inside, the gang being stranded on island in Carribean and facing large group of mercenaries, or Michael and Fiona going to a couple's vacation resort to kidnap a scientist creating bioweapons.
And the villain is pretty good too. Not sure if they manage to keep him around for the rest of the show but I wouldn't mind. However, the prominence of Breaking Bad at the time is showing. They keep stylizing him similarly to Walter White.

Well, as in TV shows? Watched some really good kdramas. When it comes to American shows, I must stick to the long runners and it has been a great success with things like Prison Break becoming my favourites.
The first three seasons are the best for me. The formula is clear but they throw in curveball once in a while and the overarching plots are fun - House's exwife, the angry fed. But I just like how comfy the show feels.
Watched the early seasons a lot. Remember it was friday evening and we were taking break from cleaning after having new windows installed and I just sat there is messy kitchen, watching Futurama and playing a lot of Warcraft 3. Binged until like halfway through the season 3 in a weekend.

Finished 20th Century Girl (2022). A movie about a girl whose sick friend falls in love at first sight with a boy but needs to go abroad for a surgery. The girl agrees to check up on the guy to get to know him so her friend got the his resume when she returns from the hospital. Yet, the protagonist soon becomes close with the guy's best friend.
The first half of a movie is amazing romantic comedy, the girl being complete menace and the guy always having to deal with her outlandish behaviour. Sweet and romantic. The third quarter unfortunately falls into melodrama which kinda sours the movie. I know they are teenagers but plots based on miscommunication are typically not great.
The last stretch becomes more serious and manages to present satisfying climax to the story.

We had a new TV around 2009 which got task to bring youngsters back to TV screens. As such, they air great variety of current shows, slightly older shows that did not make it here before and cool classics like The Outer Limits. Good times. Sadly, we eventually had to turn profit and nowadays, the channel mostly airs reruns of The Simpsons, Stargate and Top Gear.
It is still kinda funny. He had his achievements but he is pretty old nowadays. Probably thinks he knows better. Well, he did not burn his career to the ground like many others, so I guess he has got a point to some degree.

it was basically about voting. there were teams of 3 who played "together". the objective of the game is to be the last team standing after a set amount of voting rounds. a team is still alive as long as one or more members havent been voted out. each round everybody has 1 vote to cast. the vote must be placed on another player. during voting, there are two options, kill or protect. one protect vote on a player cancels out one kill vote. Of course the amount of teams was uneven, so that not every team could simply partner up with just one other team. between the voting rounds, there was ample time to communicate freely with others. there were private booths where 2 people could go in to discuss without others hearing or seeing, but it's all voluntary.
In the dream my strategy was a multi sided defence via assurance of mutual annihilation. aka the samson option. I suspected that most if not all groups would be playing scared and passively, using their votes to protect every player at first to see what's going on. I went to talk one on one with every group that was open to talk. I offered them mutual non-aggression for the price of 1 of their votes being used to kill a target chosen by me. should any of my members die in the next round, then my team would use the remaining votes to take out as many of their team as possible even at the cost of losing.
Im not sure what some good strategies are to actually win this game and which social dynamics are to be expected, but it seems interesting, right?! Anyway the dream ended right before voting

Kinda standard slice of life stuff mostly, with a slightly sinister twist.

Watched Tampopo (1985). This is a comedy about a trucker driver who befriends a widow who struggles to run ramen shop after her husband's passing. With his knowledge and ability to make connections with many quirky characters, he decides to help her to become a great ramen cook.
Pretty funny movie, even though it sometimes goes into random directions. A lot of humour is created how seriously they take the cooking which is contrasted with other more muted jokes that appear without any fanfare.
Another strong point of this film is its cozy atmosphere of 80s Japan.
One of the side characters is played by Koji Yakusho and it is quite unusual to see him that young.

In a way, it is true. The time flies by. My late 2022 was full of amazing kdramas. That is a good amount still. Had problems to keep up even that pace earlier as something like Youtube was just way easier to watch.
I also have yet to watch it. Feels like kinda overlooked era. People talk about the 60-70s New Wave and the modern stuff primarily.
