The sales for these re-releases are not great. The price was the main reason new Blood remaster had mixed reviews. If the remaster is a new thing, then great. If you delist old version which you could purchase for like 2,5 EUR which was great in itself, then it is scummy.

word, delisting the original is the most annoying part. i do have a problem with prices being such a big part of steam reviews though, even if companies should be punished for it. when i wanted to get one of those total war spinoffs it was mixed and all the reviews said it wasn't worth it for 40 euros, but i was gonna get it on sale for 8 and then all those reviews weren't actually relevant to if the game was good or worth it. a lot of people with 100 hour playtimes also made it seem like if you couldn't play it for 250 hours then it wasn't worth it, even if i didn't intend to play for more than 25 or so

I may be overblown in cases like Total War, but it can be legitimate. Taking down perfectly fine version, replacing it with slightly better version (maybe 0,1% of players will notice the difference) and increasing price three-fold is just scummy and deserves bad reviews. I guess it can also be the case when you have those games that cinematic games that are few hours long and cost 60+ bucks. That Order game from few years back seemed like a good example.
It is one thing when people do it for expedient things on their own (like stacking up on cheap alcohol or cigarretes) but shouldn't be response to economic crisis and unaffordable necessities.

That is pretty cool. It has been a while since I done that with my dad. But it seems like 6 days is a way too much.
Watched The Bird People in China (1998). This is a Takashi Miike film about a guy, who travels to China for a precious mineral deal and is followed by a yakuza who is owned money but the protagonist's boss. Together with a cheesy quite, they must traverse harsh mountains and rivers to reach the village. But instead of the minerals, they start spending time with the locals, learning about the life there and get fascinated by the legend about supposed wings tool that would allow them to fly. This is pretty chill movie, the character dynamics are pretty funny. The environments are quite novel for the film and very nicely shot, the mountains really feel like entering another world. The central conflict devolves into the question where to tell people about the ore and potentially destroy the area or protect the village. Kinda similar themes to the classic Woman in the Dunes. Interesting film, although quite atypical for the director.

Not very much. I like the idea of playing games but I always resort to something that is easy to pick up and play. You seem to like rogue-like a lot too. I want to get to Firewatch soon for the season and maybe Detention, one of my favourites but it has been so long.
He tries to stand up against government, which is good I guess, but I can't be too fond of him with his support for things like Euro currency or wanting to destroy the Veto in EU.
The thing is that many originals are just licenced and they have exclusive streaming rights. Even with some shows they invested in, the studios own them + they are IP owners like in case of One Piece or Avatar. Kinda worried how many things will disappear in few years, especially kdramas. Watched Pee Mak (2013). Based on urban legend, this is one of the most popular Thai films. It is a horror-themed romance comedy about a guy returning to his fishing village from war and inviting his military buddies with him. The village is strangely empty and everyone is dismissive of him. Soon, we discover that during his time in military, his wife died during childbirth, yet remained at their house as a ghost, desiring to see him again. Not long after, his friends realize it too and the plot revolves around them trying to convince dumb-witted protagonist to accept the reality of the situation. Very cheesy and enjoyable film. The group of his friends are not much better and enable the most ridiculous behaviours in each other. The haunted house scene is pure madness on their part. There are a few neat scares. And the romance surprisingly works well, the final scene is very emotional. Good stuff.

Watched Zodiac (2008), a crime film based on the real life Zodiac serial killer who was terrorizing California and surroundings in the 60s and 70s. And damn, as always David Fincher just knows how to make a kino procedural. It follows an obsessive cartoonist played by Jake Gyllenhaal and good natured detective played by Mark Ruffalo. Great performances by both. The atmosphere is really solid. The investigation truly captivating. You can see how the director laid groundwork for his later show Mindhunter.

Finished watching Hotel Del Luna (2019). This is absolutely fantastic IU-lead fantasy romance kdrama. 1300 years ago, guilt-ridden woman seeks the place where the dead rest. Unable to escape her past, she merges with the Moon Tree, punishing her to the eternal life and service as the head of the hotel recently deceased visit until moving on in the afterlife. Flashforwarding to the present time, she is stylish, snarky and wannabe classy hotel owner, yet still harbouring the hatred. Her fate is soon intertwined with a professional but scaredy cat hotelier who might make her time to move forward again. Honestly, this is one of the greatest kdramas. This year, I really loved Bon Appetit, Your Majesty (with Yoona) and Start-Up (with Suzy-noona) and this may be even better. Main characters are very strong (IU's acting is insanely good) and the main guy is so great slowly growing as a person through their interactions to be her equal. There chemistry is amazing, funny, charming, emotionally-resonant. Other side characters are awesome too, often used for comedy relief but their stories are deeply tragic as well. The episodic stories are varied, going from cheesy, through melancholic to thrilling. The main story is both beautiful and sad, the nice moments being what brings the unevitable end ever so closer and you really feel the sense of impending doom. The final episode, parting with all the characters, is 95 minutes of pure emotional rollercoaster. The soundtrack is perfect, many love-themed song fitting to the scenes, but more energetic Done for Me by Punch is the most memorable for me. Overall, amazing supernatural romance show, somewhat similar to Midnight Studio, starring Nara, which I watched exactly a year ago. Definitely right fit for the season!

it's amazing how much was left out in the show. some key details are way different and make the story or some characters behavior much more reasonable. some characters were done dirty in the show, some got a total boost.
for example the portuguese boss jesuit priest was made to look like a harmless but evil greedy retard that barely got a minute of screentime in the show. in the book he's a multi faceted deep and in many ways admirable character.

Watched Love Untangled (2025). Set in seaside Busan in the late 90s, this is a romantic comedy about a girl who is insecure about her curly hair and sworns to never fell in love, despite being in love with a popular guy from her school. The things get complicated when she saves a life of a new guy in town whose mother runs a hair salon promising almost magic hair straightening. While it may be a little generic, it is a lot of fun. The dialogues are witty, the friend group attics are hilarious (the bond between the friends is core of the film) and the main heroine has the attitude. Her look actually reminds me a lot of Minnie and has somewhat similar demeanor like her (Now I am even more excited for her version of 50 First Dates). The main guy looks unassuming but always surprises people with his skills. The vibe is comfy, atmosphere somewhat nostalgic, love the trope of teenagers obsessing over manga in the 90s Korea. It is pretty cute film, although I am kinda bummed about the last quarter adding some family drama. It is solid and handled well, yet I would prefer more focus on romance and couple activities instead.

Finished watching Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories Season 1 (2016). This is a drama of relaxing comfy iyashikei genre, in the vain of the fantastic Little Forest movie (starring Kim Taeri). Set in Shinjuku, a mysterious man only known as Master, runs a small dinner opening from midnight to 7AM. The restaurant is visited by quirky and weird regulars and newcomers wandering the night. The show has episodic structure, often focusing on a story of a customer, somehow relating it to the dish of the episode. The atmosphere is cozy and warm. Big emphasis is placed on the diner as a community, a place where different people randomly meet up and talk. The nightly vibe and all sorts of food adding to its cozyness. My favourite regulars are the old guy that butts into other peoples matters and a snarky middle-aged woman and her friends who always spout their wisdows and they just confirm their opinions by saying "neeeee?" in synch. My favourite episodes were the one about office working knitting warm sweaters for her love interests and the other about obsessive physician getting into relationship with Korean girl despite all the stigmas. Unfortunately, 24 minute run time often limits the stories, they are fine as they are but could benefit from being fleshed out more and would reduce some of the abrupt resolutions and a chance meetings. The New Years Eve episode also had great communal feel to it but was unfortunately kinda unfocused, but worth for the melancholic season finale.

Watched Joseé, the Tiger and the Fish (2003). Another fantastic romance film. A university student walks his client's dog and stumbles open an old woman pushing a cart with her paraplegic grand-daughter. He befriends the odd family and decides to help with their poor living conditions. Spending time with a disabled girl, he soon can't get her out of his head. Despite the premise which could lead to pretty romanticized storytelling, the plot is very down-to-earth, dealing with joys and hardships of their relationship, allowing both to grow as people. The main actress has a bit of Kim Taeri vibe to here which is appreciated and the character has quite an attitude despite being sheltered her whole life. The main guy is pretty outgoing and sociable, which is not that common in Japanese media. I like the vibe of the film, the early 2000s always feels fantastic and the enviroments are great, very lived-in in spite of poor conditions. I like the introductory section which is composed of the guy showing photos of their vacation, commenting on happy memories, then the movie flashes back to before their meeting. The ending is a little rushed but still satisfying.

Continued the 2000s ride with Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002). This is the first movie in the revenge trilogy of Park Chan-wook and the last one I have not seen. A deaf man strives to pay for a kindey transplant his beloved older sister needs. After being scammed and laid off of his job, his girlfriend (played by Bae Doona) comes up with a plane to kidnap daughter of his former employer, although after realizing how obvious that would be, they switch their target to a daughter of employer's friend. They lure her in to spend time with them under pretence of being his father's friends. The kidnapping goes south and the grief striken father is out for a revenge. Honestly, a very solid thriller with a bit of underlying dark humour. The characters are well defined and all of the main cast pull out great performances. I like Bae Doona with her a be unhinged anarchist personality but who steals the show is Kang-ho Song as the father. His display of emotions is something else. The plot is full of twist and turns and the second half gets into tempo and never stops. The movie has great cinematography and is very well shot, although it is a bit straightforward and the direction is not as fun and creative as in case of Lady Vengence but that is a really high bar into which Chan-wook slowly evolved into working on Old Boy and Lady Vengeance.

True but it kinda had its charm. Like when you are on a vacation, return to your hotel room in the evening, turn on TV and you are nicely surprised by Friends or Big Bang Theory.
That is true. Many complain that they teach you things in school you don't need but it is good to have at least some perspective in subjects like Physics or Biology even if they are not that important to you.
While the first movie looks fine, I wouldn't put much faith into guy who gender swaps protagonist because he cares about his daughter and sometimes faints which according to the director means, he is a woman.
It does not really adapt much of the lore and makes its own contradictory non-sense. Eg. The world has turned into Mad Max wasteland in the third movie but it back to normal for no reason in the forth one. Still, kinda enjoy Mr. Anderson's insanity of series.

Watched the second season of Midnight Diner (2019). Very comfy experience similar to the prior season. This time, we get some really cool melancholic episodes. One centres around a stripped who encounters her favourite old high school, they have a great time but when he returns the next day, he remembers nothing and the cast is slowly struck with realization he is suffering with dementia. Other really strong one is about aging gravure idol who learns to have self-respect and be authentic to herself. The mean looking but kind hearted yakuza guy gets more screen time as well. The season ends on high note with a New Years Eve special, full ensemble cast with their stories, my favourite being the one with guy working as a mascot getting entangled with a former con artist, helping her and saying they should take care of each other now they are both reformed, cute romance. Amazing atmosphere, especially strong in the final episode. Heard the new season is supposed to be releasing soon, featuring the Master and 21 reoccuring actors, so probably more comfy time to come.

Finished watching the third season of Buffy (1998). A pretty cool season and the end of an era. The initial episodes deal with fallout of the previous season's finale, heavily focusing on Buffy as a character with supernatural threats being more in the background. This season also gives a really cool introspective episodes to Xander and Willow as they question their self-worth. They are also many monster-of-the-week enemies from which some are not that engaging. Simiarly, the mid-season relationship drama is kinda forced and doesn't amount to much outside of regressing Cordelia's character. The main plot centres around the new villain, the mayor of Sunnydale and he is great. Sticks just right balance of family friendly politician and goal-oriented bureaucrat with the more sinister and unhinged side. He is good at saying things that are hurtful but true, seeping more uncertainity for the heroes. His plotline leads to a very satisfying climactic battle but the highlight was definitely the dance ball episode, where Buffy finally gets the proper recognition and one last hurray
for her relationship. The new slayer, Faith, is kinda interesting. Her very direct and no-nonse attitude makes her a good contrast to Buffy but often comes off as unlikeable, however herdescend into being the antagonistis pretty well-done. The most memorable episode must be the Xander one as his sense of worthlessness leads him to become driver of an undead gang who plans to blow up the school, absolute comedy gold.
I just randomly caught an episode on a trip. Don't plan on watching more any time soon.

I did and got some regrets (see following post). Camp Miasma seems a lot like Final Girls I have watched recently.
Watched The Return to Silent Hill (2026), a fanfiction by a pretentious French director, who thinks caring about your children makes you a woman, larping as adaptation of Silent Hill 2. On surface, the story is similar but every change of the context (and there are many of them) makes this movie into incoherent and disrespectful mess, which a tragic story about a man witnessing his wife withering away for 3 years due to terminal disease really did not deserved. The beginning of the movie is mostly fine, actually showing us more of their relationship and it is kinda cute but comes with problems. I would say the beginning of the movie even looks really good but the quality declines when the protagonist enters the town. Everything looks just too decrepit and try-hard and the movie very soon escalates with its transition to the Otherworld. James is turned into this edgy painter who drives fast cars while dude weed lmao and he is badass (at one point taking on like 20 nurses). The actress who plays Mary is pretty good but her character is too likeable, perfect. The point is supposed to be that she is a great woman and James loves her very much but secretly wishes she was more sensual and sexy. Her only downside in this movie is that they created a new weird backstory for her. As a result, Maria's character is completely pointless, representing what? A version of Mary whose father is not a weird cult leader feeding her drugs for strange rituals. All the female side characters are rewritten to be aspects of Mary, not great but kind passable. Eddie just has a small cameo, good actor but the character comes off as complete moron saying he lives like a king despite the building being overrun by monsters. Pyramid Head is explicitly shown several times to be James which is stupid and at one point, James summons Pyramid Head to brutally murder Maria, horendous. The iniciating incident is rewriten to be a mercy killing which Mary begged James to perform. It is really bad, traumatic experience for sure but it severely lessen the guilt of the act the entire story hinges on and makes the plea for forgiveness completely pointless. The movie baits you into thinking it will have fan favourite In Water ending but then time reset occurs and the couple rides happily into the sunset. Akira Yamaoka's music is amazing as always but I wish it was used more and more appropriately, actually considering what is going on the screen. Overall, it is a mess. Hopefully, the director gets reported to Immigrations and deported back to France.

Finished watching the fourth season of Dr. House (2007). Very creative season. Dealing with the fallout of the prior events, House is left alone. He copes by saying he doesn't need a team but hilariously ends up paying a janitor to larp as a doctor and bounce ideas of off him. Then, he is forced to hire new people but in his typical ways, he turns the hiring process into a Survivor style game show, with approximately 40 people participating. This makes the first few episodes a bit unfocused but as the season progresses, remaining competitors get a lot more time to shine. Olivia Wilde as 13 is the most developed and interesting as a troubled woman. Kutcher is insane, his dedication leading him to crazy events like accidentally setting patient on fire or electrocuting himself. Taub is probably the weakest, he has kinda interesting relationship with House but he is primarily defined by cheating on his wife, which is lame especially when the show already explored this theme much better with Wilson. I would like more if House chose the black mormon guy instead as their religious shitflinging is nice dynamic. Then we have Amber, a cut throat doctor who in many ways mirrors House and is inversion to Cameron. Foreman's character arc about not becoming House is sadly kinda anticlimactic. There are also some potential love interests for House introduced but maybe fittingly, he does not dive in, although it would certainly be interesting. The highlight is the season is definitely the final two-parter, the most ambitious one yet. House suffers a bus crash and is badly hurt, yet despite his memory loss he obsesses about a symptom he supposedly saw beforehand on unknown person and is plagued by halucinations of strange woman talking in riddles. Very Twin Peaksy and the line "What is my necklace made of?" is pure kino. This miniarc becomes the most tense and emotionally draining for all characters, especially House and Wilson as their friendship is placed under extreme pressure. Fantastic finale.

Watched When Harry Met Sally (1989), a very charming romantic comedy about two people who met accidentally when moving to New York. After a few chance encounters over the years that always turned into endless bickering, they get reunited 10 years later, both struggling after break ups of their serious relationships. Starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan, both put in great performances. She got an attitude and is a bit difficult, while he continues his neverending pseudo wisdoms (he is absolutely hilarious). Lovely romance with a very funny script, especially the creatively done double phone call scene. Drama is handled well for the most part and makes you really emphatize with their struggles of getting over prior relationships. Plus, the autumn and winter scenery of New York is portrayed beautifully.

They do metal frames with glass that has UV filter so that the sun doesn't damage the posters as well as having some sort of polarising filter so that you don't get ugly reflections when you look at the framed pictures
