> Anyone who doesn't regret the passing of the Soviet Union has no heart. Anyone who wants it restored has no brains.
Putin said that years ago.
> Putin was asked what Russian historical event he would like to change.
“The collapse of the Soviet Union,” Putin immediately shot back.
but I guess he said that years ago when I looked up the quote. It's natural to feel melancholic and nostalgic for where you're from and where you grew up. The only people that get really crapped on would be Germans talking about how nice things were when the fuhrer was running things.
I don't think we'll hear many arabs wistfully speaking about when ISIS was in charge of their area, but those are the only other people I could think of in the west that would be met with criticism. Maybe some African warlord but no one knows anything about Africa except for maybe Qaddafi.
