> You should listen to both epidemiologists and mathemathicians as your best bet to sort this out,
I don't have a choice, if I don't I am forced to pay arbitrary fees, if I refuse to pay I end up inprisoned. the true version of this sentence is "You must listen to..."
> you don't need to examine every single person to create a working model for this, you have samples and populations, you apply accordingly.
samples of different people in a different time with different circumstances. it is not a given that the same restrictions work in the same way for our people in our circumstance.
> no wonder you are against the word of scientists,
I am not. I am against unelected, unspecified, unaccountable group of people having the power of martial law over me.
> it's not like they're testing some new crazy idea to see how it goes
that is not what I suggested.
> we have models for epidemiology from decades ago, and people have been improving them since.
same as with climate models. It does not make them correct.
I don't deny that any models could be deemed as true in the future looking back, maybe the restrictions that were placed turned out to be exactly what was needed. I also don't deny that there were ways to handle a pandemic in general in the past. I would not even object to a extremely harsh policy of restriction if it was implemented in a clear way with testable goals done by people chosen to do so who are held absolutely responsible. But this is not the case. what I see is a ton of arbitrary restrictions from seemingly sensible ones like forbidding mass gatherings to absolutely braindead ones like keeping 2 meters distance from the family you live with during family gatherings. meanwhile things like mass protests for example the communist ones here recently were not forbidden, international travel is not actually shut down etc. It's a lot of half measures deployed by various parties playing their own political games and these parties are using things like "the scientists" as a tool of authority.
in conclusion there is a big uncertainty about accuracy of models, there is no clear cut implementation of proposed solutions of any one model but rather a very arbitrary selection of restrictions that is changing every other week.
maybe it would be better to stop arguing against eachother like this. I will try to make myself into your not-enemy instead by saying I am not one of those retards who denies that there is a virus or who goes out partying and all those things you see in the "look at these stupid americans during covid pandemic being retards"-compilation. In fact I am careful for myself and much more for my older family members. However I am experiencing tyrannical/unfair and stupid things and am concerned about the situation out of principle.
> I am against unelected, unspecified, unaccountable group of people having the power of martial law over me.
You probably heard this sentiment many times before it's not a new idea...
if you accept this as a valid concern then I have no reason to argue further
I'll stop in any case because >>497666 and american hours are almost over
