I do not care at all what reason they have. like I said, for me any reason for going to china as an active kpop, that isn't family vacation or group activity like a concert, is not a valid reason. They stop being a kpop for me at that point.
it's the "greed-first" approach that bothers me so much. I get that making money is the goal of a job, but being an idol is not just like any other job, it's something special.
And I get it that a company may ask the idol to do this sort of thing, but they are not slaves and can always say no. Also this situation somehow never comes up with other foreign born kpops like japanese ones. How come? the japanese music market is crazy big, so it isn't because there's no potential.
personal bias here, but I think it has something to do with general chinese culture of greed and the religion of a ton of chinese is unironically just money. Call me old fashioned, but if a person becomes a rockstar just to make as much money as possible, it is unlikeable to me.
This may be the case for regular kpops too, but at least with them I can completely have my suspension of disbelief. with chinese idols I get reminded all the time you know?
So in TLDR: I don't dislike handong because of her, but because of what she stands for, a stereotypical chinese kpop idol who did the thing
