Everyone, since many of you are curious... Gahyeonie and I are working hard on getting our driver's licence!!^ ^ Gahyeonie passed the driving course exam on her first time and I am... yet.... Please give me power~!!! Also, this is a present
imagine they disable any convenient youtube-dl, disable any easy access to pictures like they are already doing on twitter and instagram etc. And of course also implement a social security number signup to get isp access, so no anonymous chats anymore either, while blocking any popular and especially free vpns like a lot of sites already do. Only consuming/paying of media and force fed news sites like reddit will be left
of course there's probably always some workaround but it gets more and more inconvenient until only 0.00000001% of the users can or want to actually do it. And this minority can then be targeted by law enforcement
until laws became too crazy (though we're going into that direction) group of people can always unite and make simple utility for the rest of users to make them circumvent restrictions
youtube-dl is great example
though there's another danger: if corporations make convenient paid services so 99% of users would use them, those hackers who could write free alternative won't have enough motivation for that, and it would be almost impossible for the average user to do it all alone
you would need to be a hacker to dig into and understand that stuff
yeah that convenience hell is very dangerous. already today and even in europe, all my normie friends have multiple streaming services paid per month like netflix/sky/spotify/etc.
it's crazy to me. I even tried showing one things like stremio to replace netflix or whatever but even that is too much inconvenience for them. they rather wait months until their shitty show is on netflix.
